About

Sibir and Rubin met to decide 9th place in the tournament. They were a match for each other and victory went to the team that made best use of its opportunities. The first goal was scored by the Rubin forward, Loginov, and Rubin quickly put the puck in the net a second time, but the referee disallowed the goal as the player was in the goal area and obstructed the keeper. Sibir made several counter attacks and tried to keep possession, but failed to structure their game as well as in the meeting with Barys.

Rubin increased its lead in the middle of the match. Loginov scored his second, and Kryazhev added a third goal just a few minutes later, 0:3. Sibir tried to get back into the game by taking control of the puck, but to no avail. Rubin kept a tight guard on its goal and forced the opponents out of the best shooting zones. Zyablov, the best sniper on the Sibir team, pulled one goal back, but it was not enough to start a momentum. Sibir started to tire, incurred penalties and looking even more vulnerable short-handed.

Things got no better for them in the third period. The Novosibirsk team couldn’t create chances in the opponents’ zone. Both teams changed their keepers and Rubin put two more shots past the Sibir substitute. Kryazhev scored his second for Rubin, Vyacheslav Malov had a great moment for Sibir during the last seconds, but Galintsov, helped by his teammates, still found time to knock the puck into Sibir’s open goal before the close. The score line of 6:1 gives Rubin 9th place, while Sibir must be content with 10th.
