XIII Gazprom Neft Cup calls all comers to Sochi

4 December 2018 | Tournament

The decision has been made: the XIII Gazprom Neft Cup International KHL Kids Hockey Tournament, the biggest competition of its kind in Europe, will take place in Sochi from 22 to 26 April 2019.

Five locations have been selected to host matches and team training sessions. As in previous years, the Bolshoy and Iceberg Olympic arenas will be offering up their ice and practice rinks for the use of the tournament’s young players, who will also have access to a figure-skating and short-track centre. For the first time in the tournament’s history, the Super Final will be held at the principal ice-hockey arena of the 2014 Olympics — the Bolshoy Ice Dome.

Our young hockey stars can look forward to some sightseeing, with visits to the top tourist spots in Olympic Park and the southern resort city. A seminar on sports psychology, where specialists will discuss the finer points of raising future champions, will be organised for their parents. The coaches of the kids’ teams won’t be left out of the picture either: hockey gurus will unveil the secrets of how to develop a true professional and transform a little star into a big one at a special training workshop.

Ice sports fans visiting the Olympic arenas during the tournament will have the chance to experience a great celebration of ice-hockey, in the kind of atmosphere that comes only with major competitions like world championships and series finals. Audiences can look forward to arena performances from popular music acts, and enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment in the foyer. As in previous years, there will also be a full-scale multimedia show, though for now the details remain a secret. Entrance to the arenas will once again be free of charge, and information about how and where to get hold of tickets will be published soon. Check out our website for the latest news!
