23 December 2013 | Interview

The Ice Hockey Federation of the Republic of Belarus has joined forces with the Russian company Gazprom Neft to hold the 8th International Gazprom Neft Cup KHL Youth Ice Hockey Tournament in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, on April 20-22, 2014. Matches between teams in the Tournament’s West Group will be held at the brand new Chizhovka-Arena ice palace in Minsk.

"Hosting the Tournament is a great honor and responsibility for us", said Vladimir Shvabovsky, Sports Director of the Ice Hockey Federation of the Republic of Belarus. "The people of Belarus love hockey – they live and breathe it – and the sport enjoys support at the highest levels in our country. The number of children who come to play ice-hockey at sports schools in Belarus is increasing year by year and new ice palaces are being built all the time. We are confident that the holding of Europe’s biggest ice-hockey youth tournament in Minsk will be an unforgettable event for all young hockey players and fans, particularly since the event takes place immediately before our city hosts the World Ice Hockey Championship 2014.”
